Lake Como and its valleys

”Lake Como and its valleys” is a digital multimedia guide that you can easily download. It was born thanks to the initiative of the tour guide Marta Miuzzo with the collaboration of Roberto Cattani of Livingston & C. and with the contribution of our Association Mondo Turistico. Its purpose is to accompany the tourist (but not only) to the places that characterize our very interesting and fascinating territory.

Como city of art

Welcome to Como, a city rich in history and art. Discover with us the majestic Cathedral, the 13th century Broletto, the medieval townhall, the rationalist ex Casa del fascio, now national monument, San Fedele square, the ancient and vibrant wheat market place…and much more! But we will discover all this together.

Promenade along the neoclassic villas by the lake

We will take you to discover the romantic villas of delight with a nice walk along the lake. Starting from the Volta temple, the museum dedicated to great scientist from Como, we will walk through the modern rationalist quarter to reach, finally, Villa Olmo, the largest stately home of the lake.

Brunate, the balcony of the Alps

After reaching Brunate by funicular, we will have a nice walk along the many “art nouveau” style villas until we will reach the panoramic point “of the Pissarottino”, from where we can enjoy a spectacular view that stretches from the lake to the Pó valley and its plain and to the Monte Rosa

Como, Volta’s city

We will start our visit from the Volta Temple, the museum entirely dedicated to the great scientist from Como. Here we will discover the instruments that lead to the invention of the electric battery. Walking through the walled town we will arrive at the elegant Volta Square, where we will admire the monument dedicated to the scientist.

With our guide you will discover two different sides of the city: the cultural side and the one of food and wine.

One third of Lake Lugano belongs to Italy and offers interesting places for a visit.

Como rationalist city

Como is well known throughout the world as a rationalist city, where the famous architect Giuseppe Terragni worked. Among his masterpieces we can admire the ex Casa del Fascio, the war memorial and the rationalist quarter.

LECCO, Manzoni’s town

Placed “….on that branch of Lake Como that faces south…” Lecco is the place where Alessandro Manzoni set most part of his novel “The Betrothed”- To deepen the knowledge of this literary masterpiece and of his author, we suggest guided visits that can take in half day or full day.
